THE VISION OF LAKESHORE CHURCH IS SIMPLE: TO KEEP THE GOSPEL CENTRAL IN EVERYTHING. IN THE WORDS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL, WE BELIEVE THAT THE GOSPEL IS OF āFIRST IMPORTANCE.ā WE SHOULD CONSTANTLY REFLECT ON IT, AND BASE OUR LIVES AND MINISTRIES AROUND IT.
"So today, at the end of the twentieth century, we have a phenomenon unthinkable in any other century: churchless Christians. There is a vast herd of professed Christians who exist as nomadic hitchhikers without accountability, without discipline, without discipleship, living apart from the regular benefits of the ordinances... So we conclude that church hitchhikers, ecclesiastical wanderers, spiritual Lone Rangers, Christians who disdain membership, are aberrations in the history of the Christian Church and are in grievous error. ..."
- Kent Hughes, āDisciplines of a Godly Manā
Church membership is a gift. A gift must be treasured. It should not be taken for granted or considered lightly. Because it is a gift, we must always be thankful for it. And when we are thankful for something, we have less time and energy to be negative. When we receive a gift with true appreciation, we naturally want to respond to the Giver. We, therefore, see service to God as a natural outflow of the joy of our salvation and the consequent joy of our church membership. We consider it a privilege to serve the King, so we look for those opportunities at the church where we serve.
